Designer ALEX STONE Debuts his amazing New Collection a First-Hand Look!

About the designer:

Alex Stone is best described as an artistin the truest sense of the word. With an extensive

history in studio art, classical singing, cinema, and theater, it is not surprising the self-taught designer’s work is deeply rooted in costume, sculpture, and embellishment. In his own words, the collection design process begins with a single unique fabrication and a bold color, often one and the same. From there, artistic prints and rich textures take form, and the story is then silhouetted in a single evening over a“glass or four of wine.

”Naturally, adjustments and tweaks are made as the sample-making process unfolds;however, the initial vision remains intact. Wearable, functional silhouettes are injected along with fanciful to flush out the ‘meat and potatoes’ of the collection. “Not only must there be a through-line to the storytelling, but the customer must be presented with a wardrobe. My collections are merchandised to hang in one’s closet as a whole. The consumer must be tempted to take the entire narrative home with them.”It is very clear fashion is Stone’s life work. Fashion illustration was always an unexplained

hobby since youth, but it was a quarter-life crisis (not surprisingly birthed in theisolating

rejection of Los Angeles) that led him to embrace the idea of luxury fashion as a second and

final career. With a BA in film studies under his belt, and a stalled acting career leaving him artistically

hungry, Stone made the tough decision to return to school in his

late 20’s to study manufacturing. It was this Associates degree that got his foot in the door. He

then spent the better (or worst) part of a decade grinding his way up from graphic/technical designer,

to accessories director and apparel designer, and finally to Design Director (a journey Stone

refers to as his unofficialy Masters in fashion design).

Now residing in his home city of Dallas, the designer has embarked on the challenging

entrepreneurial task of building his own brand. “It’s definitely a daunting, stressful choice–not for the faint of heart. Every day is a challenge. The virtue of patience is tested constantly. After the designs are conceptualized and fabricated and draped, there is a lot of waiting . . . on pattern makers and

seamstresses–the process. Then there’s the marketingand sales factor, not to mention money.

Money–the truest evil.

”Regardless, there is a clear and burning determination. Success is the only option. There isno doubt we will be seeing and hearing more from

ALEX STONE Collection very soon.

Born and raised in Sherman, TX, Stone attended Southern Methodist University in the late 90’s,

where he graduated Magna Cum Laude with a BA in Cinema Studies and a minor in Vocal

Performance. He then pursued acting in Los Angeles from 2000 to 2005 before

attending FIDM.

After a grueling stint as a paid designer in luxury fashion, Stone decided to branch out on his

own as a freelance technical and embroidery designer. In 2013, he returned home to his roots

in order to launch his namesake brand.
